Carole grew up in a family of entrepreneurs where passion and challenges were lived out on a daily basis.

This passion was passed on, motivating her to join a business start-up program. With a partner, she opened her first business, a boutique specializing in the sale of longboards and clothing. From the get-go, she was committed to buying locally and choosing Quebec suppliers.

After two years in business, she had the opportunity to take on a solo project: relaunching a struggling beauty salon. She immediately noticed that the products offered were very expensive, packed with chemical ingredients and sold in containers that were not recyclable. This direct contact with customers opened her eyes to what drives demand. That’s when Cocooning Love began to sprout in her mind.

At the same time, the family business was expanding and she was offered the opportunity to open a branch in Montréal, which meant leaving Quebec City, where she had always lived, as well as her environment, family and friends. She decided to take up the challenge and accepted this new responsibility.

Developing a line of eco-friendly and affordable cosmetic product was always on her mind. So she started working on her project after work and on weekends and was able to use all the experience gained in the family business and through various training courses to see her project of founding her own company — Cocooning Love —, come to life.

“I was using natural products, but I found that supply was limited and unattractive. At the time, products always smelled the same (patchouli, ylang-ylang, etc.) and I rarely found local products that were 100% natural and beautiful, with interesting fragrances.”

2016

The beginnings

When Carole’s family saw the constant growth of her business and the potential of what she was creating, they encouraged her to spread her wings and devote herself entirely to it. She left the family business, bolstered by a deep motivation to make thoughtful, sustainable choices and to foster accessibility for the consumer. That is how Cocooning Love came to life in 2016.

At the beginning, products were crafted at Carole’s house, with the help of her family and friends.

“My great-grandmother used to buy rose water for my mother a long time ago. It’s a product that has made an impression on me and that I wanted to promote. Rosewater was one of the products that launched Cocooning Love and it has now become the line’s flagship product.”

2019

Flagship store

With the brand’s growing popularity and a desire to increase production capacity, Cocooning Love moved to a new location in 2019. This is how the flagship store appeared in Montréal’s Rosemont neighbourhood. We set up a warm and friendly showroom to welcome our customers.
